The Voice Boy studio is located in Los Angeles, complete with ISDN technology for live sessions anywhere in the world. Jeff uses the following to deliver his sound, unless you really DO prefer a couple of tin cans and a string:
- Neumann TLM 103 Microphone
- Drawmer Front End One MX60 Compressor/ Equaliser/ Tubesound All-in-One
- Mackie 1202 VL-Z Pro Mixer
- Telos Zephyr Xstream ISDN Interface
- Panasonic SV 3800 DAT Recorder
- Sony 10X/ 4X/ 32X CD Burner
- Soundforge Digital Editor
- NCI Multimedia Computer System
Clients have demanded a variety of different delivery methods and purchasing options, and Jeff can accommodate them all. Market exclusivity, lease packages, retainer fees...you choose, we deliver, you pay (what a concept). Delivery options include mp3, ISDN, FTP, CD, or anything else with initials or numbers.
The Pre-Produced Option
No imaging director at your station? Or just looking for a more professional or unique sound in your market? If you need pre-produced sweepers and ID's, we can do that too in conjunction with some of the most in-demand producers and imaging talent in North America, including:
Concertspots Productions (www.concertspots.net)
Phoenix, Arizona-based Larry Semkew has over 25 years of audio production experience under his belt. His expertise spans from radio station imaging to the big sound of a "concert spot". Working out of fully digital studios, Larry produces spots that have been heard on radio and television from Ireland to Australia, producing concert tour advertising for the likes of Bryan Adams, Nickelback, Martina McBride, Anne Murray and The Guess Who. Larry's work with Voice Boy includes ESPN Sports Radio, and the ARG Network. Larry's a sport himself: a former hockey goaltending great with a wonky knee.
Sideshow Productions (www.sideshowproductions.com)
Mel Kartusch has been the producer for Vancouver's #1 Country station, moved on to Vancouver's #1 CHR Station, then to Vancouver's #1 Rock station (success follows him wherever he goes....). He now has his own production company, Sideshow Productions, where he does imaging for stations across North America, spending most of his time in his basement studio, which is fully equipped with, as his wife puts it, "a bunch of crap". Mel says, "Jeff Rechner is the Ken Dryden of voice talent" (kind of slow, but he seems good because he has talented people in front of him?). Speaking of hockey references, Mel has also screened many a shot while playing defense in front of Voice Boy/Goalie Boy. For that, he apologizes.
PowerCuts (powercuts@silk.net)
PowerCuts is not a cheap hair salon; in fact, it's a production studio headed up by award winning producer Andrew Murdoch. Andrew has worked in Halifax, Montreal and now through the beauty of technology works from his studio in the beautiful Okanagan, home to many of Canada's finest wines (Andrew is quick to point out he's usually drinking those fine wines after he's created your finished product). From radio imaging and promos to audio for television and full corporate audio presentations and a second child, Andrew just never stops producing.

“Jeff was available for us immediately when we needed him. He was suffering through a head cold and had a very scratchy voice, our promo was Halloween themed and I made a suggestion to try voicing our spot as is, with the different voice and all. Even with a cold, Jeff's voice quality showed through and it was one of the more dynamic voices we've used for such a themed presentation.”
